The Ferndale boys' basketball team lost 56-44 at home to Shorecrest in the consolation first round of the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 9.

With the loss, Ferndale's season is over.

"We played really well in the first half," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "We played smart and shared the ball really well. In the second we let one of their guys go off for eight points inside on us and didn't shoot the ball well."

The Golden Eagles (8-14) were led by Austin Honeycutt, who scored 14 points.

"Austin, our freshman post, had another solid game for us," Walton said.

John Weg added seven points and eight rebounds, and Lukas Melton, Brady Shearer and Kendall Kelly each added six points for Ferndale.
