The Whatcom Community College men's basketball team defeated the top ranked NWAACC team Edmonds 90-80 at home Saturday, Feb. 9.
"It was a very high-energy game," Whatcom Community College coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "It was a great win for us. They apply a lot of pressure and I was proud of how we responded to that. We played our tempos for the majority of the game and that got them out of their normal rhythm and frustrated them a bit."
The Orcas were led by Kyle Impero, who scored 34 points and had six rebounds and two steals. Zach Stalin scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds and eight assists.
"Stalin almost had a triple-double," Scrimsher said. "I thought Alex Duncan did a really good job on defense tonight. He was tasked with defending their leading scorer who normally gets 26 and he held him to 14."
Whatcom has a 7 p.m. game at Olympic on Wednesday, Feb. 13.
