Published: February 9, 2013

The Mount Baker boys' basketball team came back in the second half to defeat South Whidbey 66-56 at home in the consolation third round of the Class 1A Northwest District Tournament Friday, Feb. 8.

The Mountaineers will play Blaine for third and fourth place for seeding in the Class 1A Tri-District Tournament.

"After we scored the first two points they went on a 15-0 run," Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview. "We were able to reassess what we were doing and went on a 10-0 run to end the quarter. It was back and forth. We were able to slowly put some distance down the stretch."

Colton Ranson scored 15 points for the Mountaineers (8-15) and Ty Munsell added 13 points.

"Colton had a career high and this is only his third varsity game," Gray said. "Dalton Munsell had a nice second half for us and even got a dunk which got the crowd excited."
