The Ferndale girls' basketball team wasn't able to come back as it lost 34-32 to Glacier Peak in the second round of the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament Friday, Feb. 8, at Lynnwood High School.

Ferndale will move to the consolation bracket where it will play at Shorewood in a loser-out consolation third round game Tuesday, Feb. 12.

"That second quarter we had no baskets," Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "We had a stretch where everything we threw up just wouldn't go in. We had a great defensive second half, but it just wasn't enough."

Ferndale held Glacier Peak to 12 points in the second half and had the ball with five seconds to go but was unable to get a shot off.

The Golden Eagles (19-3) were led by Hannah Carlson, who scored eight points, and Linsey Honeycutt, who scored eight points and had 13 rebounds.

"In a night like this when you can't throw the ball in the ocean I thought Linsey did a good job keeping us in it," Ivy said. "When you hold someone to 34 you think you are going to get a 'W,' but when you only score 32 it just won't go that way."
