The Ferndale boys' basketball team lost 64-40 in the first round of the Class 3A Northwest District Tournament Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Glacier Peak.
"I thought we were very competitive in the first half and were up at halftime," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "Everything was going according to the game plan. After half, they came out and went inside to Zach Pederson and we just couldn't stop the kid."
Ferndale (8-13) was up 23-21 at halftime before being outscored 43-18 in the second half.
The Golden Eagles were led by Austin Honeycutt, who scored 11 points, and Aiden Sands, who scored six.
"Austin had a good game," Walton said, "with his rebounding and his shooting ability tonight."
With the loss, Ferndale moves to the consolation bracket and will play Shorecrest at home on Saturday, Feb. 9.
