The Whatcom Community College women's basketball team was unable to come back in its 56-50 loss at Skagit Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 6, in an NWAACC game.
"Honestly we just struggled tonight," Whatcom coach Sara Bergner said in a phone interview. "We didn't shoot the ball as well as we normally do. We held them to enough points to win but we just couldn't buy a basket. It was a tough one tonight and we are going to put it behind us and move forward."
The Orcas (7-2 North, 14-7) were led by Bree Park, who scored 17 points, and Cambie Edwards, who scored 12.
Leah Korthuis led the Orcas with six rebounds and four assists and added eight points in the effort.
"Park was one that actually hit a few shots for us," Bergner said. "We just couldn't get into a flow."
Former Nooksack Valley Pioneer Allison Johnson played for Skagit and scored six points in the win.
Whatcom will play at home on Saturday, Feb. 9, against Edmonds.
