Bells announce return of most of coaching staff for 2013 season

Published: February 7, 2013

The Bellingham Bells announced the return of three coaches for the 2013 season.

Manager Gary Hatch, pitching coach Jim Clem and assistant coach Bill Calkins all return to the Bells this year. Hatch is in his third season with the Bells and took the team to a second-place finish in the West Coast League last season. He will look to lead the Bells to a better record for the second consecutive year in the search for their first division title.

Clem also returns for the Bells, who have had a pitching staff ranked in the top four in team ERA the past two years.

Calkins will assist with administrative duties for the third straight year and help with the coaching staff when necessary.

The only member of the 2012 staff that will not return is assistant head coach Damon Lessler, who will return to Division 1 baseball where he was a player and coach.
