With a postseason berth already locked up, Sehome coach A.J. LaBree wanted to make sure his team didn't look past Burlington-Edison in its regular season finale.

The Mariners didn't and went on to a 69-64 Northwest Conference win at Burlington-Edison on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The win gave Sehome (16-4, 9-3 NWC) the No. 3 seed out of the NWC into the Class 2A District 1/2 Tournament while Burlington-Edison (14-7, 8-4) will be the No. 4 seed.

"We knew we were in (the playoffs) going into this game," LaBree said in a phone interview. "I wanted to make sure our guys were playing loose but still focused."

The Mariners started the game with a 19-9 advantage after the first quarter and led much of the game until the Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter. Sehome forced Burlington-Edison into 28 turnovers while the Mariners committed just eight.

"Our pressure bothered them a lot," LaBree said.

Sehome was led by Charlie Linneman's 21 points. LaBree credited Willy Lallas with a spark in the first half when he scored eight points and Gabe Sanchez who totaled 18 points.

"(Sanchez) really kind of paced us and being our leader," LaBree said.

Sehome opens the postseason when it plays at Archbishop Murphy on Friday, Feb. 8.
