FERNDALE - A 10-year-old girl was taken to a Seattle hospital a day after getting struck by a car in downtown Ferndale.
A 26-year-old Ferndale woman was crossing Main Street with the girl at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. A woman driving a '97 Honda Accord turned left at the Second Street intersection and hit the girl, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Keith Leary.
Soon afterward, the girl was up and talking. But the next day state troopers learned she was taken to Harborview Medical Center for head injuries, Leary said.
Francisca Sapp, 79, of Ferndale, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
More information about the girl's condition wasn't available Tuesday, Leary said. Troopers declined to release her name.
A voicemail box for Sapp's phone was full.
