Despite a thick fog and a dangerous Western Oregon squad, the Western Washington University rugby club grabbed a Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference victory on the road on Saturday, Feb. 2.
The Vikings (2-0) jumped out to a 24-7 halftime lead and scored seven tries. Joe Cote, who started his first game, scored two, while Cory Kleppe, Quinton Willms, Pat Phelps, Ned Kelly and Louie Henson also scored. Willms also converted four of seven attempts.
The WWU 'B' team (2-0) also won 57-19, as Nick Salimano led the way with one try and four conversions for 13 points.
The Vikings next travel to the University of Oregon for a Feb. 16 match.
