Western Washington University made it a clean sweep, as it claimed Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors in all three sports it participated in over the weekend. Austin Bragg was selected co-player of the week in men's basketball, Trishi Williams was the women's basketball player of the week and Camille Depew was the conference's softball player of the week.
Bragg, a junior forward from Longview, scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Vikings' 83-76 overtime win over Seattle Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 2. Two days earlier, he blocked four shots in WWU's 86-69 win over Montana State Billings. Bragg, who is averaging 9.9 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game and leads the GNAC with five double-doubles, shared player of the week honors with Alaska Anchorage guard Kyle Fossman.
Williams, a senior forward from Mabton, had 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in an 83-72 win over Alaska Anchorage on Saturday, recording the program's third triple-double in school history and the first since the 1994-95 season. Williams is second on the team with 11.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and leads the team with 4.5 assists and 2.6 steals.
Depew, a senior outfielder from Seattle, hit .455 (10 for 22) to help the Vikings go 3-3 at the season-opening University of Hawaii Kona Kickoff Classic. Five of Depew's hits were for extra bases (four doubles, one homer), and she drove in six runs and scored four.
