Skagit Opera presents Donizetti's "Lucia Di Lammermoor," one of the most frequently performed of all operas, with crackling drama, soaring melodies, secret rendezvous, political intrigue, a duel at dawn and the most famous mad scene in opera, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, and Feb. 15; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, and Feb. 17 at McIntyre Hall, Skagit Valley College, 2501 E. Free pre-performance lectures take place 45 minutes prior to the show.
The role of Lucia will be sung by two-time Northwest Regional Metropolitan Opera National Council finalist Megan Chenovick. Edgardo, her ill-fated lover, will be sung by Seattle Opera tenor Marcus Shelton.
A closing celebration dinner will be Feb. 17 following the show, for $75. Show tickets, $15 to $59, can be reserved at mcintyrehall.org and 360-416-7727.
