The Washington women put on a 3-point shooting clinic, making 15 3-pointers to beat Arizona State, 74-61, on Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. The total was one short of a school record for 3-pointers.
Freshman Talia Walton from Federal Way scored a career-high 26 points, including 6-of-8 shooting from 3-point range, and had nine rebounds for UW.
The Huskies trailed the Sun Devils, 33-29, at halftime, but came out firing 3s in the second half. Washington scored its first 18 points of the half on 3-pointers to take a 47-42 lead with 13:22 to play.
The Huskies eventually made nine of their 12 3-point shots in the second half to build a double-digit lead.
Kristi Kingma made three 3-pointers including the 200th of her UW career, only the third Huskies player to reach the milestone.
