WWU drops two in softball in Hawaii

Outfielder Camille Depew continued her outstanding hitting, going 5 for 7, as Western Washington University fell 5-0 to Rollins and was edged 5-3 by host Hawaii Hilo in final-day action Sunday, Feb. 3, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

The losses evened the Vikings' tourney record at 3-3.

Depew, who sat out last season after transferring from NCAA Division I North Dakota State, is hitting .455 (10 for 22) in WWU's six games with six runs batted in and four runs scored. She has five extra-base hits, including four doubles and one home run,

Against Rollins, Depew had two of WWU's four hits as the Vikings were blanked for the first time this season. In the loss to Hawaii Hilo, she was 3-for-4 with a leadoff homer in the seventh and a run-scoring double in the fifth.

In all, Depew had five of WWU's 11 hits on the afternoon.
