Blaine boys can't come back, fall 59-43

Published: February 2, 2013

The Blaine boys' basketball team wasn't able to come back in its 59-43 loss at home to Burlington-Edison in its final Northwest Conference regular season game Friday, Feb. 1.

"We had a slow first," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. "Burlington had a big second quarter and took it to us before we realized we need to attack the zone. We just dug too big of a hole to come out of."

Burlington-Edison outscored Blaine (4-16, 1-11 NWC) 21-5 in the second quarter, which was the 15 point difference.

Blaine was led by Gabe Trump, who scored 11 points.

"We need to do a much better job attacking the zone," Pile said. "We need to attack it and not wait to do it. We are looking forward to it."

Blaine will play at Mount Baker on Tuesday, Feb. 5, in its first round class 1A Northwest District tournament game.
