Ferndale earns 70-30 win, finishes year undefeated in NWC

Published: February 1, 2013

The Ferndale girls' basketball team jumped out to an early lead in its 70-30 win over Anacortes at home on Thursday, Jan. 31, in its Northwest Conference final regular season game to finish undefeated in NWC play.

"It was the best game we have played all year," Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "We came out and scored 20 points in the first quarter and 17 in the second and held them to two in the fourth."

Ferndale (18-2, 12-0 NWC) was led by Kendra Bodger, who scored 14 points, and Taylor Reid, who scored 13 points and had 10 assists.

"To have 21 assists and one player with 10 is unreal and showed we were getting the ball around," Ivy said. "We had someone different scoring in every quarter and were very confident tonight."

Ferndale will next play in a district tournament as the second seed in the north division. The Golden Eagles will play Shorecrest on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
