The Ferndale boys' basketball team lost its final regular season Northwest Conference game at Anacortes 67-46.
"Anacortes came out and played like they are the number 10 rated team in the state," Ferndale coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "We just gave them too many second-chance points and didn't block out on defense. Giving up seven 3-pointers was also disappointing."
Ferndale (8-12, 5-7 NWC) was led in scoring by Austin Honeycutt, who scored 13 points, and Kendall Kelly, who scored 12.
"Kelly had a good game offensively and defensively for us," Walton said. "We are going in to the playoffs 0-0 and we need to flush this game and move on to get ready for next week."
Ferndale will advance to the 3A District 1 tournament on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 6, against an opponent to be determined.
