Jordan Deardorff scored a running 15-foot shot at the buzzer to give the Lummi boys' basketball team a 58-56 win over Tulalip Heritage and the Northwest League 1B title on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
"It was a great game," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "It came down to the final play. We had the ball under their basket with 3.4 seconds left and Deardorff hit the shot. Our guards did a good job controlling the ball and only had eight turnovers, and our bigs did a good job controlling the boards."
Lummi (15-3, 10-1 NL1B) was led by Deardorff, who scored 17 points, and Earl Johnson, who scored 15.
Lummi will play its final regular season game on Friday, Feb. 1, at Highland Christian. Lummi qualifies as the top seed in the class 1B Northwest District tournament.
