Fast start leads Blaine to road win over Sedro-Woolley

A 22-2 start to the game gave the Blaine girls' basketball team a 55-32 Northwest Conference win at Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

The win improved the Borderites to 14-5, 8-3 NWC.

"They turned the ball over a lot in the first quarter," Blaine coach Ryan Pike said of Sedro-Woolley. "We had a lot of fast-break layins and that set the tempo for the rest of the game."

Mandy Hayes led the Borderites with 19 points, Alexis McElwain scored 14 points, Breanna Chau scored 11 points and Taylor V'Dovec scored 10 points.

Blaine plays at Burlington-Edison in its final regular season Northwest Conference game on Friday, Feb. 1.
