Mountaineers fall 83-63 to Anacortes

Published: January 30, 2013

The Mount Baker boys' basketball team was unable to come back in its 83-63 loss to Anacortes at home on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in a Northwest Conference game.

"They came out shooting the ball well and hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter," Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said in a phone interview. "We battled back and cut the lead to 10 in the first quarter, but they were able to push it out and outscored us and pushed it back to 20."

Mount Baker (6-13, 3-8 NWC) was led by Reuben Murashov, who scored 19 points and had six rebounds, and Harrison Whitmyre, who scored 13 points.

"Harrison played really hard," Gray said. "Reuben also had a nice game with five 3-pointers. He has been struggling so for him to hit those shots was really nice."

The Mountaineers will play their final regular season Northwest Conference game on Friday, Feb. 1, at Bellingham.
