Red Raiders earn tough win at home over Pioneers

Bellingham was able to hold off Nooksack Valley 52-44 on senior night in Northwest Conference girls' basketball action on Monday, Jan. 28.

The Red Raiders (10-10, 4-7 NWC) outscored the Pioneers by eight points in the second quarter to take a six-point lead at halftime. There was only a two-point differential the rest of the game.

"It was a hard-fought game," Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. "It kind of went back and forth. We were able to shoot the ball a little better than them."

The Red Raiders were led by Olivia Halverson's 18 points and Alicia Romero who had 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Nooksack Valley (12-7, 6-5 NWC) was led by Melissa Stadt's 16 points and 11 rebounds and Mariah Perry's 10 points.
