Yay: Women rule

Women now comprise the majority on the state Supreme Court and are led by a female chief justice.

The fifth woman on the court, Justice Sheryl Gordon McCloud, was sworn in on Jan. 14, one day after the 100-year anniversary of our state’s first female legislators. Frances Axtell and Nena Croake took their place alongside 95 men in the House on Jan. 13, 1913.

We’ve come a long way, albeit slowly.
