Yost leads Mountaineers to 53-39 win over Squalicum

Emily Yost scored 19 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Mount Baker girls' basketball team to a 53-39 win at home over Squalicum on Friday, Jan. 25, in a Northwest Conference game.

"It was a really fast paced game and we were trying to push the ball," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "Yost did a great job tonight and our girls did a good job feeding her."

Emily Brandland scored 13 points for the Mountaineers (7-10, 2-7 NWC).

The Storm (4-14, 3-7 NWC) was led by Meghan Lowry, who scored 11 points, and Lauren Eckert, who scored nine.

Mount Baker travels to Meridian on Saturday, Jan. 26, while Squalicum hosts Lynden Christian on Tuesday, Jan. 29, both Northwest Conference games.
