Tigers too much for Bellingham in 75-42 loss

Published: January 26, 2013

The Bellingham girls' basketball team was unable to come back in its 75-42 loss at Burlington-Edison on Friday, Jan. 25, in a Northwest Conference game.

"The pressure got to us," Bellingham assistant coach David Neevel said in a phone interview. "We hung in there in the first quarter but they wore us down and gave significant pressure. We just ran out of steam."

The Red Raiders (9-10, 3-7 NWC) were led by Catrina Mahoney, who scored 12 points and had six rebounds, and Jenn Paul, who scored nine points and had five assists.

"Catrina started for the first time and ended up leading the team in scoring," Neevel said. "We had some new faces in the scoring leader column which was nice to see. It was a game of growth."

Bellingham is still in contention for a 2A district berth.

Bellingham hosts Nooksack Valley on Monday, Jan. 28, in a Northwest Conference game.
