The Blaine wrestling team got off to a quick start and went on to a 48-15 Northwest Conference victory over visiting Ferndale on Thursday, Jan. 24.
The win kept the Borderites undefeated at 7-0, 4-0 NWC while the Golden Eagles dropped to 6-2, 3-2 NWC.
"I thought our little guys really got us going," Blaine coach Craig Foster said in a phone interview. "Everybody wrestled hard."
Blaine won eight of the first nine matches of the dual. Earning pins for Blaine were Billy Dodd at 113 pounds, Anthony Frey (132), Caleb Frey (138), Erik Engels (160) and Mikey Antczak (285). Also winning for the Borderites were Bodrie Belknap (106), Gage Lott (126), Christian Sharpe (145), Justin Belding (152), Jon Stewart (170), Dwayne Ortega (182) and Caleb Johnson (220).
Winning for Ferndale were Devon Bennett (120), Erik Engels (160) and Sam Alexander (195).
