Northwest University's Michael Greene (Squalicum) has been selected the Red Lion Men's Basketball Player of the Week in the Cascade Collegiate Conference for Jan. 14-20. It is the third time Greene has won the honor.
Greene, a junior, led the Eagles to wins over Corban and Northwest Christian last weekend, recording a career-high 17 rebounds against Corban on Friday, Jan. 18.
Greene leads the Eagles in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals and ranks 21st in NAIA Divison II with 18.9 points per game and 16th in rebounds per game (9.0).
SHINE HELPS UAA TO WIN AT ANCHORAGE
Central Washington's Hannah Shine (Lynden) scored 14 points on Saturday, Jan. 19, to help the Wildcats to a 74-64 win at Alaska Anchorage.
Shine hit a 3-pointer to tie the game and another to help Central start to pull away.
Shine is averaging 6.3 points and 5.0 rebound per game for the Wildcats.
DE BOER HAS ANOTHER BIG NIGHT
Montana's Kenzie De Boer (Lynden Christian) scored 27 points to help the Lady Griz to a 78-63 victory over Southern Utah on Monday, Jan. 21.
De Boer made 9 of 12 shots, including five 3-pointers, to lead three players in double figures. The 27 points was two off her career best, and she also recorded four steals.
De Boer leads the team with 14.4 point per game and 30 steals this season and is recording 3.5 rebounds per game.
