Lions defeat Nooksack Valley 33-26 in wrestling

The Lynden boys' wrestling team defeated Nooksack Valley 33-26 in a Northwest Conference game on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Nooksack Valley High School.

"I thought Nooksack wrestled very well tonight and I was proud of all of our guys," Nooksack Valley coach Chad Parson said in a phone interview.

Nooksack Valley (2-6, 2-3 NWC) was led by Christian Palma, who pinned Jovani Jose in the 138 weight class in 33 seconds.

The Lions (3-5, 3-2 NWC) were led by Nick Iaconetti (126) who defeated Paul Newell 15-0 and Ryan Meggison (170) who defeated Jess O'Bryan 8-1.

The Pioneers will wrestle at Friday Harbor Monday, Jan. 28, in a non-conference meet before wrestling Lynden again Wednesday, Jan. 30, in a non-conference meet.
