Lynden boys' swimming falls 86-84 to Archbishop Murphy

The Lynden boys' swim team won only one event but only lost 86-84 to Archbishop Murphy in a non-conference game Tuesday, Jan. 22, in Lynden.

"They had some really top swimmers," Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. "It was close and we had a lot of seconds, thirds and fourths but it wasn't enough. We are getting ready to go and they are starting to get worn out. The effort was there, but the bodies just weren't."

Robby Knapp, Lorenzo Perez, Jeffrey Propersi and Brian Anker won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute, 41.8 seconds for Lynden.

"We have a lot of sprinters and we are trying to pick our best to go to district," Gibb said. "That was a really good team with a good time and we hope to put our fastest kids together."

Lynden will next compete in the Northwest Conference District Tournament on Friday, Feb. 8.
