The Nooksack Valley girls' basketball team came back in the fourth quarter to get a 54-47 win at Anacortes on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in a Northwest Conference game.
"Anacortes is a hard place to play and they played really scrappy," Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview. "They were up by six and we just chipped away at them and hit some free throws down the stretch."
Nooksack scored 12 of its 17 fourth quarter points from the line.
The Pioneers (11-5, 5-3 NWC) were led by Melissa Stadt, who scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds, and Mariah Perry, who scored 15 points.
"Melissa had a great game and was 12 for 12 from the foul line and did well," Wichers said. "Defensively I thought Lindsay Hayes had a really big shot block late in the fourth that really helped us out."
The Pioneers host Sehome Thursday, Jan. 24, in a Northwest Conference game.
