Because of high demand, a renowned raptor biologist has added a second series of classes on how to identify raptors.

Bud Anderson's first multi-week series filled up rapidly, so he added a second to accommodate a waiting list that grew to more than 40 people, according to class sponsor Whatcom Land Trust.

The sessions are 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 12, 19, 26 and March 5 and 12 at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, 1207 Ellsworth St., downstairs in the social hall.

Anderson, who founded the Bow-based Falcon Research Group in 1985, said the Puget Sound basin is famous for its wintering raptors, and this year seems to be a banner one for raptors.

He has been teaching the class for nearly 30 years.

The cost is $150 per person and includes a field trip to look at raptors.
