FERNDALE - Ten Whatcom County employers will be honored Thursday, Jan. 24, for their efforts to respond to and support victims of domestic violence in the workplace.
The 10 a.m. ceremony at the Ferndale Police Department is part of an initiative by the Bellingham-Whatcom County Commission Against Domestic Violence to expand the community's response to victims of domestic violence. The workplace policy and procedures include information about victim safety and confidentiality, abuser accountability, victim and workplace safety plans, the state's Domestic Violence Leave Law and local resources. Employers being recognized Thursday: Chihuahua Family Mexican restaurant, city of Ferndale, Bellingham office of the Department of Social and Health Services Children's Administration, Family Care Network, Ferndale Ace Hardware, Ferndale True Value Hardware, Opportunity Council, Samuel's Furniture, Washington State Employment Security Department, Whatcom Alliance for Health Advancement.
