Nooksack Valley kept close for one half but visiting Anacortes pulled away as the Pioneers lost 72-39 in Northwest Conference boys' basketball action on Monday, Jan. 21.
The Pioneers (0-15, 0-8 NWC) went into halftime down by seven after scoring 22 points in the second quarter. Anacortes shut out Nooksack Valley in the third quarter, however.
"We did a nice job in the second quarter coming back," Nooksack Valley coach Tyler Mitchell said in a phone interview. "The third quarter they came out and played good defense."
Brandon Gwinner and Seth Taron each scored eight points for the Pioneers.
Anacortes improved to 12-4, 6-2 NWC.
