Blaine holds off Mount Baker for road win

Alexis McElwain scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Blaine girls' basketball team to a 49-36 win at Mount Baker in Northwest Conference action on Monday, Jan. 21.

The Borderites improved to 11-5, 6-3 NWC while the Mountaineers dropped to 6-10, 1-7 NWC.

Mount Baker was in the game down by four points in the fourth quarter before Blaine pulled way.

"We played a good game," Mount Baker coach Brenda Ellis said in a phone interview. "We were making a good run at them."

Mandy Hayes had 15 points and Taylor V'Dovec had 10 points for the Borderites.

Mount Baker was led by Emma Lallas' nine points.
