Meridian unable to keep up with big fourth quarter by Burlington-Edison

A 30-point fourth quarter by the Burlington-Edison boys' basketball team was too much for Meridian to overcome as the Trojans fell 73-50 in Northwest Conference action on Monday, Jan. 21, in Burlington.

The loss dropped Meridian to 8-8, 3-5 NWC while Burlington-Edison improved to 11-6, 6-3 NWC.

The Trojans were down six points entering the fourth quarter before the 30-point outburst by the Tigers. Burlington-Edison had 10 3-pointers in the game.

"They just got loose and hit a few 3s," Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. "We had a pretty good effort for those first three quarters."

Edward Garcia led Meridian with 17 points. Alijah Garcia added 15 points and Blake Briones added 13 points for the Trojans.
