SAFETY: Wilderness class offers tips on surviving in wild

Wolf College will offer an evening wilderness survival class in Olympia on Jan. 29.

Participants will learn the critical order of survival including what to do if you become lost, when and how to build a natural shelter, how to purify water and find wild edibles, and how to spin plant material into rope. Instructors will also demonstrate how to make a fire with natural materials and start it using a bow drill to create fire by friction.

The class will be 6-8 p.m. Jan. 29 at The Evergreen State College, 2700 Evergreen Parkway NW, Olympia.

The cost is $15 for the first person and $10 for each additional family member/friend. A deposit is required to hold your space.
