Sehome's Rocky Rantz placed second in the Northwest District diving Saturday, Jan. 19, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.

Rantz had a state qualifying score of 284.85 and coach Taylor Sundstrom said he stepped up his game on Saturday.

"He made his dives list better so it was easier for him to qualify," Sundstrom said in a phone interview.

Sehome's Chance Gwinner placed sixth with a score of 177.25.

Rantz' school was corrected Jan. 21.
