Published: January 20, 2013

Lynden's John Shine scored a team-high 21 points - 17 coming in the second half - as the No. 1-ranked Lions overcame a slow start to earn a 59-55 non-conference win against No. 7-ranked Mark Morris Saturday, Jan. 19, at Saint Martin's University.

Dak Shagren and Scott Hastings scored 11 points, and Zach Vis added eight and a team-best five rebounds.

"Hastings kept us around in the first half," Lynden coach Brian Roper said in a phone interview. "In the third quarter, we were able to get out in transition and change the tempo of the game."

The Lions trailed 31-26 at halftime, but Lynden outscored Mark Morris 17-5 in the third quarter to take a sizeable lead.

Lynden (14-1, 7-0) hosts Sehome next at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
