The Meridian boys' basketball team held on to win at Blaine 59-49 in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Jan. 18.
"It was a tough game," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. "They built a lead in the third quarter and that was tough for us to come back from. That was the difference. We cut it to seven with 6 minutes to go but they executed really well."
The Trojans (8-7, 3-4 NWC) were led by Edward Garcia, who scored 17, and Alijah Garcia, who scored 10 points.
Blaine (3-12, 1-7 NWC) was led by Gabe Trump, who scored 22 points, and Josiah Westbrook, who scored 10.
Meridian travels to Burlington-Edison on Monday, Jan. 21, while Blaine hosts Mount Baker Tuesday, Jan. 22, both Northwest Conference games.
