The Ferndale boys' basketball team spread the scoring around as it defeated Nooksack Valley 62-37 in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Jan. 18, at Nooksack Valley High School.
"Ferndale did a nice job spreading the ball around," Nooksack Valley coach Tyler Mitchell said in a phone interview. "I thought we did a nice job in the first half, we just couldn't put the ball in the hole. We were doing all right on defense, we just couldn't score."
The Pioneers (0-14, 0-7 NWC) were led by Brandon Gwinner, who scored eight points, and Seth Taron, who scored six and had nine rebounds.
Ferndale (8-8, 5-3 NWC) was led by Brady Shearer, who scored 12 points, and Luis Alvarez, who scored nine. Every player that played for Ferndale scored and the Golden Eagles had seven players score six or more points.
The Pioneers host Seattle Academy in a non-conference game on Saturday, Jan. 19, while Ferndale will host Squalicum on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in a Northwest Conference game.
