Rachel Albert scored her 1,000th point as she helped Sehome defeat Bellingham 49-39 in a Northwest Conference game Friday, Jan. 18, at Sehome High School.
"That's a pretty big accomplishment and it couldn't happen to a nicer kid," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview.
Albert scored 22 points in the game and her 22nd point, a free throw, put her at 1,000 for the Mariners (9-6, 5-2 NWC).
"I thought we were a lot better in the third and that's when we really pulled away and set the tone," Kirk said. "It was a well played game on both ends. Bellingham did a great job on their execution and I thought we did a nice job moving the ball around and attacking the basket."
Bellingham (9-8, 3-5 NWC) was led by Olivia Halverson, who scored 15, and Joelle Zamora, who scored 13.
Sehome hosts Lynden on Monday, Jan. 21, while Bellingham travels to Ferndale on Thursday, Jan. 24, both Northwest Conference games.
