Health, economic disparities focus of Bellingham forum

BELLINGHAM - A Thursday, Jan. 24, forum will focus on health and economic disparities in Whatcom County, what organizations are doing about those disparities, and how the community can get involved.

The free event is open to the public.

It runs 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the YWCA Bellingham Ballroom, 1026 N. Forest St.

Speakers will include:

• Astrid Newell, community health manager at Whatcom County Health Department, will present key findings from the most recent Community Health Assessment.

• Greg Winter, director of Whatcom Homeless Service Center, will discuss key pieces of the Whatcom Prosperity Project.

• Jeff King, director of the Center for Cross-Cultural Research at Western Washington University, will talk about national trends.
