Bouwman, Lynden take care of visiting Mount Baker

Kelsey Bouwman scored 19 points to lead the Lynden girls' basketball team to a 57-44 Northwest Conference win over visiting Mount Baker on Thursday, Jan. 17.

The win improved the lions to 10-5, 5-2 NWC while the Mountaineers dropped to 6-9, 1-6 NWC.

"We challenged our kids to compete," Lynden coach Rob Adams said in a phone interview. "I was really proud of their effort in all four quarters."

Bouwman not only had a game-high in points but also was 6 for 7 from the free throw line.

"She had her most efficient night of the season," Adams said.

Lynden took a 12-4 lead after the first quarter and was able to build the lead to 20 points by the fourth quarter. Stephanie Somers added 16 points for the Lions.

Mount Baker was led by Emily Yost's 18 points and Jessa Baisden's 11 points.
