Squalicum outlasts Sehome 42-27 in wrestling

Published: January 17, 2013

The Squalicum boys' wrestling team defeated Sehome 42-27 in a Northwest Conference meet Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Sehome High School.

"There were a lot of forfeits because of injuries and eligibility issues," Sehome coach Scott Schroyer said in a phone interview. "But Squalicum came out and competed. It was a quick match and hopefully everyone can get healthy and eligible come postseason."

Luke Jordan led Squalicum (4-1, 3-2 NWC) when he pinned Emily Lucke in 5 minutes, 52 seconds, and Aaron Saunders defeated Austin Vosburgh 5-0 for the Storm.

Steven Yazzie defeated Zach Wallace 8-3 for Sehome's (3-2, 2-2 NWC) only win other than forfeits.

Sehome will wrestle in the Lynden Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 19, while Squalicum hosts Blaine on Wednesday, Jan. 23, in a Northwest Conference meet.
