Sheriff: Drug task force busts Bellingham heroin-selling operation

BELLINGHAM - A six-month investigation into people selling heroin out of a Tull Road apartment resulted in the Tuesday, Jan. 15, arrest of two people and seizure of high-quality heroin, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.

An undercover agent of the Northwest Regional Gang and Drug Task Force bought heroin several times at the apartment in the 4300 block of Tull Road, near Walmart, Sheriff Bill Elfo said,

On Tuesday investigators served a search warrant, seizing 3/4-ounce of heroin. Residents Stephanie A. Moses, 31, and Jesse N. Tom, 27, were arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of dealing heroin and other drug-related charges.

The task force expects to arrest a third person, Elfo said, but that suspect was not named.

Investigators believe the suspects were selling 1 to 2 ounces of high-quality heroin every other day, Elfo said.

Heroin use has been on the rise locally in recent years, as have overdoses and deaths from it, Elfo noted.
