Lynden boys' swimming suffers second loss of the year

Published: January 16, 2013

The Lynden boys' swim team won two events but lost to Anacortes 108-81 in a Northwest Conference dual meet Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Fidalgo Pool in Anacortes.

It was the Lions' first loss since their season-opening meet against Sehome on Dec. 4.

The Lions' 200 freestyle relay team of Jeffrey McKay, Jeffrey Propersi, Jan Wolfisberg and Robby Knapp topped the field with a time of 1 minute, 41.90 seconds, and Wolfisberg won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:09.60.

"We were hoping it would be a bit closer than it was, but that's the way it goes sometimes," Lynden coach Steve Gibb said in a phone interview. "They have a great team."

Although Lynden lost the meet, Gibb said several swimmers enjoyed significant time drops.

Lynden (4-2, 4-2 NWC) hosts Archbishop Murphy next in its regular-season finale at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.
