The Bellingham boys' swim team picked up two non-conference wins against Sedro-Woolley and Archbishop Murphy on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

The Red Raiders defeated Sedro-Woolley 108-51 and got past Archbishop Murphy 93-77.

"It was nice for the team to get two wins," Bellingham coach Jeff Anderson said in a phone interview. "We were really happy when we saw the score with Archbishop Murphy."

Martin Sloley had two individual wins for the Red Raiders as he placed first in the 200 freestyle (2 minutes, 4.57 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:31.28). Gabe Travers also had the top overall time in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.51) and placed first against Sedro-Woolley in the 100 butterfly (1:12.23).

Bellingham had the top overall time in the 200 medley relay (2:02.92) and the top score in diving by Andrew Twedt (141.05 points).

Griffin Ellis had the fastest time in the 100 backstroke (1:09.98) vs. the Cubs and qualified for district. Also qualifying for district was Eli Ninnemann in the 100 breaststroke.

"Both had a really good day," Anderson said.

Ferndale's Jonny Chang had a top time of 1:07.52 in the 100 breaststroke and Paul Valdez had four best times. Neither swimmer counts toward Bellingham's point total.
