Despite Kyle Impero's 27 points and Zach Stalin's 19, the Whatcom Community College men's basketball team lost 86-83 in a NWAACC game Saturday, Jan. 12, in Edmonds.
"We had the opportunity at the end," WCC coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "We were up eight at halftime, and they came out and pressed, and we had a little bit of trouble getting into our press break."
Scrimsher said Edmonds scored 24 points off of turnovers, while WCC scored six points.
Impero had nine rebounds to go with his team-high 27 points, and Stalin recorded a double-double with 10 boards and 19 points. Nicholas Kussman scored nine points, and Alex Duncan scored seven.
The Orcas host Olympic next at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16.
