Competing unattached, Squalicum High School's Gina Flint and Kirsten Webber earned top five finishes in their individual track and field events during the 2013 UW Indoor Preview meet Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Dempsey Center on the University of Washington campus.
Flint placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 6 inches. The UW-bound Flint beat athletes from several area colleges including Western Washington University, UW, Eastern Washington and Portland State.
"I know it was Gina's first indoor meet, and it was a new environment for her," Squalicum track and field coach Ted Flint said in a phone interview.
Webber, who won a Class 2A pole vaulting state title last year, tied for fourth place by clearing a height of 11 feet, 6.5 inches. She edged competitors from Western, Central and Eastern Washington University.
