Steve Barnes presents his musical "RPG," from Jan. 17-20 at Bellingham High School. Part of the proceeds benefits the Alton Grimes Memorial Theatre Scholarship.

Steve Barnes, a 2000 graduate of Sehome High School and a frequent piano accompanist at Bay Arts Academy for Youth, Mount Baker Theatre Repertory Theatre and Bellingham Theatre Guild, presents his musical "RPG," sparked by the idea that video games, before they outgrew their infancy, were seen by young people as vehicles for storytelling, thought and imagination.

"RPG" celebrates one of gaming's most beloved genres - role-playing games - mixing onstage action with digital music and visual effects. Bellingham High School seniors Abrah Friberg, Kaleb Van Rijswijck, Brad Anderson and Candice Lundy perform the tribute.

Shows are 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 17-19; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Bellingham High School, 2020 Cornwall Ave. Admission: $7 at the door. Part of the proceeds benefits the Alton Grimes Memorial Theatre Scholarship. Details: rpg-musical.com.
