The Bellingham girls' basketball team came back in the fourth quarter to defeat Anacortes 53-49 in a Northwest Conference game in Bellingham on Friday, Jan. 11.
"It was back and forth and we had a tough start but came roaring back in the second," Bellingham coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. "Monica Ziels really gave us a lift in that quarter and Olivia Halverson scored nine that quarter for us."
Anacortes outscored Bellingham 16-7 in the third quarter, but Bellingham was able to come back and outscore Anacortes 20-9 in the fouth quarter.
Bellingham (8-7, 2-4 NWC) was led by Joelle Zamora, who scored 15 points, and Alicia Romero and Halverson, who each scored 11 points. Romero also led the Red Raiders with 11 rebounds.
Bellingham hosts Sedro-Woolley, both Northwest Conference games.
